Talk:MTNL Triband
From GLUG-BOM
Recently I had to explain how to change the dhcp lease period on a GLB502T router but since I didn't know about the interface (I use a 502T), this was difficult.
Also there is no documentation on the USB interface. How about adding pages on different routers (for specifics) and for usb/ethernet (for general gotchas/pointers).

First draft
First draft done for a document on network setup for MTNL Triband using Ethernet or USB. I guess the router setup for PPPoE mode has been explained fairly well in manuals on the MTNL Triband website. I haven't tried out Bridge mode, so anyone who has may put up a section on it.

TODO
- Add information about other router models
- Add configuration for Bridge mode since it's not mentioned on the Triband page.
- Test out the USB interface on various distros
- Find the minimum kernel version necessary for the USB auto-detect to work.
- Identify quirks if any
DNS server same as gateway?
The DNS server IP in static LAN configuration should be set to MTNL's DNS. Or any ther DNS servers, like OpenDNS. - Rohit
I don't think that's necessary. I'm using my router IP as my DNS server and it works fine. I guess the router does DNS forwarding for me by default. The configuration is probably just like ppp dialing where you dial a number and then as a response you get complete settings including your WAN IP, DNS server, etc. --Siddhesh 22:46, 26 June 2007 (EDT)
